KIEZKINO: Khartoum

The film originally set out to portray the everyday lives, hopes and dreams of five residents of Khartoum after the revolution and counter-revolution. But then the former allies of the military government, the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militias, go to war with each other. Khartoum is largely destroyed. Ten million people are forced to flee, including the street boys Lokain and Wilson, the tea seller and single mother Khadmallah, the resistance fighter Jawad and the civil servant Majdi. In exile in Nairobi, they meet again and process their experiences with the help of green screen and animations.

Häusliche Gewalt zieht sich durch alle gesellschaftlichen Schichten. In Deutschland erfährt schätzungsweise jede vierte Frau* einmal in ihrem Leben häusliche Gewalt. Die Zahlen sind tendenziell ansteigend. Die Protagonistinnen* des Films zeigen, dass verschiedene strukturelle Probleme die Situation von gewaltbetroffenen Frauen* beeinflussen. Der Berliner Wohnungsmarkt spielt dabei eine zentrale Rolle. Es fehlt an Schutzräumen und die die bestehen sind von Mietsteigerungen und Kündigungen bedroht.
